Many questions have arisen from people in the community about the building, its services and the philosophy. Here are some of the frequently asked questions.

Q. Is Old Brownlee an assisted living facility?
A. No. It is licensed by the State of Louisiana as a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. Old Brownlee Community Care Center offers long term care as well as rehabilitation necessary for individuals to regain strength, endurance and skills to return home successfully.

Q. How much does it cost?
A. Old Brownlee accepts Medicaid, Medicare, some insurance as well as private payment.

Q. Where does the name come from?
A. Old Brownlee Community Care Center borrows its name from the Old Brownlee Road where it is located. Early in the 19th century Brownlee was a flag station on the Cotton Belt Railroad about five miles out of Shreveport. Mr. W. Boney had a general business there. Brownlee Road and Brownlee Estates harken back to that flag station just north of Bossier City.

Q. Will you offer therapy services?
A. Old Brownlee offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy that help individuals gain function and ability after an illness, injury or condition. While Old Brownlee provides long term care, many people are able to complete rehabilitation and return home successfully.

Q. Will there be independent living?
A. Old Brownlee offers only skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.
